Warli is a traditional art form of Maharashtra. Its roots can be traced to as early as the 10th century A.D. These paintings are distinctive with their vivid contrast expressions and these paintings are mainly dominated by basic geometric shapes like circles, triangles and squares. These geometric shapes stand as a symbol of natural elements in our environment. Warli paintings are made up of natural color.

In this painting the artist is trying to depict a celebration by performing tribal dance called Tarpa Dance. The dancers encircle the 'Tarpakar' and dance past midnight, accompanied by a wind instrument called Tarpa and the tribals are celebrating their joys by performing the same.
