Tanjore Painting is a classical South Indian painting style, which originated from Tanjore in Tamilnadu back in the 17th century. They had used the same to decorate the walls of temples, palaces and homes since the Chola dynasty. They are characterized by rich, flat and vivid colors, simple iconic composition, glittering gold foils overlaid on delicate but extensive gesso work and inlay of glass beads and pieces or very rarely precious and semi-precious gems. From Poompuhar, we bring you an exclusive selection of traditional Tanjore paintings made using gold foils and teak wood frames. Materials used in the painting include plywood, cloth, paints, semi-precious stones, Arabic gum, chalk powder and teakwood for the frames.. The paintings are 100% handmade and natural also known as Thanjavur Paintings. Tanjore paintings are made by skilled artisans and it involves dedication and creativity.
