This collared, sleeveless front-open cotton patchwork jacket in contrasting hues of reds has been made using the ralli technique. Ralli comes from the word ralana which means ‘to connect’. It is the craft of joining pieces of fabric, cut in geometric shapes to form elaborate bold patterns. Traditionally, the women of Rajasthan used old textiles and scraps of fabrics to make Rallis or quilts that were considered a valuable gift given to daughters by mothers on their wedding day. We have used the same process with leftover fabric to create this beautiful contemporary jacket. The jacket can be used as a smart overlay for winter solids or a cool cover up for summer evenings.
