Pediatric dentistry aims to maintain the deciduous teeth in their position until the permanent teeth erupt. The deciduous tooth plays an important role in mastication, digestion, maintenance of arch integrity, stimulation of jaw growth, development of speech and esthetic function. Pulpotomy is one of the vital pulp therapy techniques used for preserving decayed primary teeth with extensive caries but without evidence of any radicular pathology. It is a procedure in which a part of an exposed vital pulp is removed, usually by preserving the vitality and function of the remaining part. Various Pulpotomy materials have been introduced in Pediatric dentistry so as to make the pulpotomy procedure both clinically and radiographically successful. This monograph highlights various Pulpotomy materials, their indications, contraindications, techniques of application along with the recently introduced pulpotomy materials.
