The origins of coffee date back to 1600 AD but the real experimentation with Arabica plantation and growing different varietals and grades came into play because of this single small event that took place in Chandragiri. JH Jolly, a meagre manager at a coffee trading company saw an opportunity out of his boring trading duties to grow coffee in a larger parcel of land, something that was unheard of then. He sent a petition to the Mysore government for a 40 acres parcel to be used for coffee plantation. Aware of the apprehensions that Mysore government may have with such an outlandish plan, he shared adventurous plans of how we want to change the coffee crop in India to suite the palate of the world coffee drinkers. We are dedicating this roast to that first entrepreneurial zeal for coffee in this country and have prepared the roast that gives you the aroma of the origins of coffee in India. Here at Chandragiri, the beans are grown at the height of 4500 feet, and these single estate high-grade beans are medium roast to unlock the subtle sweetness of caramel that raises the flavour profile with the settling notes of hazelnut, grounding your senses to where they may not stay for long.
