"llkal/Irkal sarees are traditional mainly known for their traditional borders and pallu. The saree comes from early centuries and is one of the oldest weave of India.
The pallu threads and body threads of this fabric are joined in loop technique, a unique method locally called as Tope Teni.
The broad border in contrast colors is woven in different traditional types such as Gomi, Paraspet, Gaadi, Jari, and modern Gayathri.
