METHIMEZ 5MG TABLET contains Methimazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antithyroid Agents. It is used to manage overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) in adults. It is also used to prepare for thyroidectomy (removal of the thyroid gland).
METHIMEZ 5MG TABLET is not recommended if you have history of acute pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain). METHIMEZ 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver, kidney disease, large goitre (swelling in the front neck). Consult your doctor before taking it. symptoms of agranulocytosis (decrease in white blood cell count) such as frequent infection with fever, chills, sore throat
symptoms of liver dysfunction such as jaundice (yellowish discolouration of skin and whites of the eye), loss of appetite, itching and/or pain at right upper-quadrant of stomach
signs and symptoms of acute pancreatitis such as severe stomach pain radiating to back, rapid heartbeat, fever, nausea and vomiting
signs of exfoliative dermatitis such as redness or peeling of the skin over large areas of your body
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.
Nausea And Vomiting
Take METHIMEZ 5MG TABLET, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.
