Are you looking to take your saree business online? Want to cash in on the increasingly popular “online shopping” trend? Well, now is a perfect time. The revolutionary open network setup is here to transform your overall online selling journey. This FAQ-style blog explains how to effectively sell on ONDC network and establish a successful eCommerce presence.

8 FAQs for saree merchants looking to join ONDC Network

1. Is ONDC network a company?

ONDC network is a digital project aimed to democratise India’s monopolistic eCommerce marketplace. The ONDC network is not a corporation or an aggregator, but a standardised network of sellers, buyers, and logistics providers connecting seamlessly for their mutual benefit. Imagine an open network that allows you to list your catalogue of sarees and Indian ethnic clothes on multiple platforms for a fraction of commission fees!

That’s what Indian sellers get when they list on ONDC network. Hence, the novel initiative is a breakthrough in GOI’s continuous efforts to help SMBs and hyperlocal sellers become active participants in the digital market sphere.

2. Is it complicated to register my online saree business on ONDC network?

Absolutely not. Even a naive, not-so-tech-savvy merchant can register on the revolutionary open network using a compatible ONDC network Seller App. From there on, uploading your products, managing orders, and tracking invoices become a one-click process. Mystore seller app provides an easy-to-use dashboard with advanced capabilities to make it easier than ever to sell on ONDC network.

3. How can I sell Indian ethnic clothes on ONDC network easily?

To begin your selling journey on the open network, you must become a registered seller. Not to worry, however, as the Mystore seller app makes it super easy to list on ONDC network and start showcasing your saree catalogue to pan-India buyers right away. Here’s a step-by-step guide to quickly becoming an ONDC network-affiliated seller:

  1. Create a seller account on Mystore.
  2. Fill in the registration form with your GSTIN and bank details.
  3. After your e-store goes live, you can start receiving orders.
  4. Choose your preferred logistics and fulfilment partners.
  5. Payment is then credited to your linked bank account.

4. How is ONDC network distinct or different from other big platforms like Amazon, Flipkart etc.?

In simple terms - No. Amazon is a closed-loop, where the platform-centric model dictates the entire selling process. These platforms play a decisive part in how your product is priced, ranked, and sold. Any deviation from Amazon or Flipkart’s strict selling policy leads to dwindling traffic or account suspension.

ONDC network, meanwhile, is a far more seller-friendly network that provides a level playing field for small players. The not-for-profit initiative makes eCommerce accessible and affordable to all sellers. No preferential treatment, no predatory tactics, and no biased algorithms. Simple register with Mystore and list on ONDC network with minimum fuss.

5. Will it be easy for customers to discover my saree catalogue on ONDC network?

Absolutely! When you register on ONDC network, your Indian ethnic clothes collection will be discoverable to potential buyers throughout the open network. From there, customers can place orders using any compatible ONDC network buyer app in one go. Based on a buyer’s search, your saree collection will be automatically visible to all relevant user sections.

6. Can you tell me 3 ways to accept payments from my customers on ONDC network?

You can integrate your seller account with multiple payment gateways for added convenience. Once customers place an order, they can choose their go-to payment method to finalise the purchase. Here are the three distinct ways that sellers can accept payments from customers on the ONDC network:

- Cash on Delivery (CoD)

- Net Banking

- E-Wallets (PhonePe, UPI, Mystore buyer app, etc.)

Payments made online will be credited to the linked bank account on the Mystore seller app.

7. Can I use ONDC network-approved logistics providers to deliver saree and Indian ethnic clothes?

Sellers can use the on-network logistics on the open network to continue with their existing shipping methodology. Sellers can choose their preferred ONDC network-approved logistics and fulfilment partners for optimum customer experience. Once you list on ONDC network, you can scale your shipping reach to fulfil orders in multiple states.

8. What are the rules for the final payment to the saree merchants on ONDC network?

The payment cycle depends on which buyer application you use. For instance, the Mystore seller app credits payments to its registered sellers every Friday based on two distinct patterns:-

a. For non-returnable orders:

Final Payment Received = Nearest Friday to (date of delivery + 2 days)

Let’s say the customer orders a customised Banarasi Saree and receives it on 23rd January; the payment will be credited to you on the nearest Friday to (23 + 2 = 25), so 27th January.

b. For returnable orders:

Here, the final settlement occurs based on delivery + returnable period + 2 days.

Again, suppose the customer orders a Banarasi Saree and receives it on 23rd January, but with a return period of 7 days. Then, the payment will be credited to you on 3rd February 2023.

Conclusion

Thousands of merchants are expected to join the ONDC network in 2023. When you list on ONDC network through Mystore, you can use a plethora of integrated marketing tools to create a dynamic, feature-rich experience that customers will be attracted to. By staying at the top of customers’ minds, you’ll ensure that your brand always stands apart.

So, register on the Mystore seller app and supercharge your Indian ethnic clothes business for maximum visibility and growth opportunities.
